The Anta PG7 2S enters the scene with an unapologetically massive midsole—measuring about 46.5 mm at the heel from my own readings. It’s clear that Anta is chasing the current “super-stack” trend seen in models like the More V6 (44 mm), Puma Magmax (46 mm), and Hoka Skyward X (48 mm).
But while the promise of plushness is appealing, stacking height alone doesn’t guarantee a great ride. Here’s how it actually performs.

Upper and Fit
The single-layer jacquard mesh upper is thin, soft, comfortable and breathable.
The fit feels secure thanks to a traditional lacing system and ample heel padding reinforced with TPU overlays for extra stability.

Sizing is consistent—true to size with a roomy toe box and good lockdown – both midfoot and heel.
The removable 5 mm insole adds a touch of extra softness.
Overall, comfort and fit are solid.
Out of the box the arch support is intrusive, a familiar trait from earlier PG7 models, but it tends to soften after a few runs.
Midsole and Ride
Anta’s famous Nitrogen-infused EVA-based PG7 foam returns here, but in a noticeably softer formulation.
Stack height comes in around 46.5 mm heel / 30.5 mm forefoot (from my measurements), yielding an estimated 8–10 mm drop (adjusting for measurement errors).
The compression is deep, the rebound moderate.
On foot, it delivers exceptional step-in softness—a “sink-in” sensation every time you land. The rebound is better than I expected, giving a comfortable and mildly springy ride.

However, at 360 g per shoe (US 11), the PG7 2S is heavy. That weight is felt on longer or faster efforts, though surprisingly, it remains runnable at moderate paces.
During testing, I was able to hold 5:18 min/km comfortably—impressive for such a chunky shoe.
The midsole cushioning feels comparable to ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27, with a similar blend of softness and mild responsiveness.
Outsole and Stability
The thick rubber outsole provides generous coverage and seems built for durability.

The wide base and a slight arch wedge help control pronation, making the shoe more stable than its towering stack might suggest.

On-Run Performance
The PG7 2S truly delivers what it promises—maximum cushioning. Whether you land on your heel, midfoot, or forefoot, the plush underfoot feel is unmistakable.
Despite the weight, the ride feels balanced and steady, ideal for easy runs, recovery days, or long slow miles.
It’s not built for speed or tempo work or intervals.
For heavy runners, older runners, or those seeking soft impact protection, this could be a good pick.
Price and Value
At around $80, the PG7 2S maintains the same price tag as its predecessors—the PG7 v1 and v2—which is impressive considering the added cushioning and refinement. For that price, you’re getting a soft and stable daily trainer that rivals far pricier shoes in comfort.
Pros
- Exceptionally cushioned ride
- Stable platform despite height
- Breathable, comfortable upper
- Great lockdown and true-to-size fit
- Strong value at $80
Cons
- Heavy (≈ 360 g)
- Slightly intrusive arch at first
- Not ideal for faster runs
- Durability yet to be proven
Verdict
The Anta PG7 2S delivers ultra-soft comfort and surprising stability in a super-stacked package. It’s not for those chasing speed or feather-light shoes, but for runners who prioritize plushness, protection, and value, this is a compelling option.
Heavy, yes—but impressively runnable.
Rating: 8 / 10 – A soft, stable cruiser for easy miles and tired legs.
